Where can I pet a highland Cow in Utah?
Right Here! The Grand Ranch the only place we know of where you can meet highland cows up close and in person! Either on a tour or during your farm stay, you can meet, pet, brush, cuddle, and kiss our beautiful mini highland cows!
Do we get to pet the animals when we stay at the Farm?
Yes! You have mini highland cattle right off your private back porch! You can feed and pet them from your hot tub, patio, or kitchen window! See all our available dates for our Farmhouses by Viewing the ‘Stay with Us’ Page and clicking the ‘book here’ button
Can I Come see the animals without a booking?
The Grand Ranch at Zion is our private home. Please do not come to the ranch without a confirmed booking for an overnight stay in one of our farm houses, or a Farm Tour booking. We would love to have you! Book your Farmhouse Stay or Farm Tour using the tabs above!
The Ranch is not open to the public. Once in a while we will host a public event, like a pumpkin patch. Please follow our Social Media to stay posted on these Public events. @The.Grand.Ranch
What types of animals do you have?
The primary animal at The Grand Ranch are our Miniature Highland Cows. Chosen from highly desirable Lakeport Bloodlines, our mini hairy coo’s are bred for docile temperament, extreme hair, small size, and overall cuteness!
Each Guest Home has mini highlands right outside their private back patio! You get to pet and feed them over the fence during your stay! If you are interested in adopting a baby highland for your farm, please add your name to our sale barn mailing list on our ‘Meet the Coo’s‘ page.
Our other animals are for our enjoyment as pets, and guest are able to interact with them! Please come play with our miniature Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Babydoll Southdown Sheep, Miniature Donkeys, Teacup Pigs, Chickens, Kittens, and Alpaca! They would love to meet you. All our animals are handled daily, and have very sweet personalities. Learn more about them on our ‘meet the farm family’ page
We also have animals sales and adoptions of kids, lambs, and piglets! If you are interested in buying a mini farm friend baby, please add your name to our sale barn mailing list, and you will be notified of new animal births, as well as miniature farm animals for sale.
How many animals do you have?
This one is hard! We currently have over 60, but animals are added, and sold, so this number changes frequently! Come for a visit to count them and let us know!
Do you allow Commercial Photography?
Yes! We would love to have you take your family photos, engagements, birthday, whatever you would like. There is a $100 commercial photography fee for taking pictures at The Grand Ranch. This includes entrance into our smaller animal pens (goats/sheep/donkeys) If you would like mini highland cows in your photoshoot, or need an animal handler to help, there is an additional fee. Please contact us for a full quote.
Do you have a laundry for guests?
Yes! We have a laundry room for guests where booked overnight guests can wash their clothes. Laundry soap available for purchase in the vending machines inside the laundry room.
Can I feed the animals during my stay?
There is a bag of treats waiting for you when you arrive! You can feed the cows right from your kitchen window, hot tub, or back porch! Extra treats are available for purchase in the vending machines located in the guest laundry room. Please only feed provided treats. Many foods and plants are poisonous to livestock, and can cause death within 30 min. Please feed with a flat hand. Sometimes animals get excited and can nibble or bite. Please DO NOT feed the donkeys. They are on strict diet, but you may pet and brush them as much as you would like. They love friends.
How far are you from Zion National Park?
We are centrally located to many of Utah’s national parks and other wonders! Our ranch is just 2 miles from the Center of Kanarraville, Utah. Using that as a starting point, you will be able to search accurate distances to any specific location.

- Zion National Park Main Etnrance: 50 min, 47 miles
- Kanarra Falls Trail (permit required) 5 min, 2 miles
- Spring Creek Trailhead : 5 min, 2 miles

- Sand Hollow Reservoir: 30 min, 40 miles
- Bryce Canyon National Park: 1.5 Hours, 100 miles
- Grand Canyon North Entrance (seasonal): 4 Hours, 150 miles
Where are you Located?
Our Family Ranch is located in Beautiful Southern Utah just outside the boundaries of Zion National Park! We are 40 min North of St, George, 10 min south of Cedar City, Utah, and 2 outside of Kanarraville, Utah. When you make a overnight booking, or a Farm Tour reservation, you will be sent exact directions and a pin to our Ranch. The Ranch is our Private Home, and we do not allow walk in’s. You must have a confirmed booking before we will share our address and exact location with you. We can’t wait to have you for a visit!
Can we come to your Utah Farm Petting Zoo?
We would love to have you come visit for a Farm Tour, where you will get to pet and feed all the animals, and even bottle feed a baby cow, goat, or lamb (depending on what babies are being born!) This is not a regular petting zoo where you pay admission and arrive anytime. The Tours are kept very small, about 6 people, or larger private groups. You must have a Scheduled Booking for your private tour before you arrive at the Ranch. Visit our Farm Tour page to see available times.
